Many people look for ways to improve their credit. Several factors contribute to bad credit such as loss of employment, illness, injury, and so on. Even so, responsible people strive to boost a low credit score and maintain a good record. You can always get a secured credit card and improve a low score. However, if you want to quickly boost bad credit, consider buying a new car.

Financial experts agree that buying a new car is a great way to quickly raise a low credit score. Of course, to benefit the most from the purchase, you’ll have to pay your auto loan on time each month. After six months, the auto loan lender will report your good payment history to the credit bureaus. In turn, your credit score will gradually improve.

Unfortunately, buying a new car with bad credit doesn’t guarantee the lowest rate. Thus, it’s best to buy an inexpensive vehicle. This way, your payments stay low and affordable. Once your credit score increases, you’ll be able to refinance the vehicle loan and qualify for a better rate.

Save Money with New Car Buying Tips
Buying a new car can either be a smart decision or a bad decision. Before completing an auto loan application and driving home in your new automobile, consider these new car buying tips. Remember, the goal with any new car purchase is to save money and get the best deal.

1. Don’t Buy New: New car buying tips available on the Internet normally encourage buyers to finance a used car. According to a few experts, new cars are a big rip-off. The moment you drive a new car off the lot, it depreciates several thousands of dollars. Thus, it’s almost better to wait and buy a car that’s a year old. You’ll save money on the purchase, and the vehicle won’t depreciate as fast.

2. Watch Your Credit: Believe it or not, but some people don’t know their credit score. In turn, they apply for a vehicle loan, and then have the audacity to act shocked when the loan is denied. New car buying tips advise every person to check their credit before applying for a loan. This way, you can make necessary improvements that may guarantee a better rate.

Cars.com has updated its American Made Index, and the list has flip-flopped some models right off, while others have hopped onto the top ten. Cars.com uses the parts origin information from the window sticker, along with the location the vehicle is manufacture at and sales numbers to determine which vehicles have the most US-based content. Ford’s F150 and Explorer are the chocolate wafer to the rest of the list’s cream filling, sandwiching everyone else between their respective #1 and #10 rankings. General Motors has the most vehicles in the top ten list, with the quartet of Cobalt, Malibu, G6, and Silverado 1500. Not surprisingly, Toyota’s Tundra, built in Indiana and Texas, makes the grade at #5. Chrysler’s Sebring is that company’s only placing on the list, though even the same generation of a particular model can place high one year and fall off the next as automakers juggle OEMs and running changes. If sales of light trucks continue their precipitous fall, the AMI may look radically different the next time around. Four of the ten are body-on-frame trucks, and there’s also a pair of minivans, all set to suffer in sales as buyers start to move en masse to more efficient vehicles.

Don’t Overlook These Car Buying Tips
Don’t want to become another one of those car buying horror stories?

There are so many options that exist in buying a car in this day in age. For example, buying a new car is certainly an option and buying a used car is another possibility. Add all the amenities that come with purchasing a car, especially a brand new car, and you’ve just increased your options.

With the widespread use of the internet, buying a car online is becoming a more common tactic in purchasing a new vehicle.

Here are some car buying tips that can prevent you from making a mistake that you could initially regret, whether it’s online or in a physical dealership.

Get your credit report. Go to annualcreditreport.com for a free credit report. This is one of the most important car buying tips because it effects your payments in the long run. You get 3 free chances to check your credit report per year through the following companies: Experian, Equifax, and True Credit. The rule of thumb as long as you verify that your credit score is above 680, you won’t have to pay a high APR. It’s important to be highly aware of what your credit score is, so you can prevent paying a high APR, especially when you don’t need to.

Get a vehicle history report. If you’re thinking about buying a used car, be sure to get a vehicle history report. Through using Experian AutoCheck Vehicle History Reports you can essentially avoid thousands in potential losses when you buy a used car. Through using AutoCheck Vehicle History Reports you can see if your used car has had any of the following problems: been stolen, flooded, totaled, accidents, etc. Imagine purchasing a used car that appears to be in great shape on the outside, but is actually falling apart in the inside? Checking a vehicle history report is one of the most important car buying tips in any used car sale.

Find government auctions for the best used car deals. This is certainly one of the lesser known car buying tips. Most car auctions are widely unknown. They are typically done by banks, IRS, and other government agencies that sell repossessed vehicle because failure to pay payments or seized by the police. Many of these cars that are given up for auction are fixed up and are in excellent condition. You can find these auctions online. Be sure to check the following government website: http://www.usa.gov/shopping/shopping.shtml

Do some research. In the end, it’s up to you to be smart enough to know exactly what you want. If you want to purchase a car online or at a dealership, you can do the bulk of your research online. Also, know if you can find the car cheaper, so that you can bargain with the car salesman.

Remember, in the end, it’s up to you whether or not you should take this car buying advice to heart.

All of the clean new vehicles in the world won’t amount to much if they don’t replace the older, dirtier fleet of cars currently on the roads. For this reason, some U.S. states are beginning to offer programs which pay drivers to turn in their old clunkers for new, cleaner cars and trucks. In Texas, for instance, up to $3,500 is available to qualifying families which earn less than $63,000 per year in combined income and own a vehicle which fails current emissions testing. Texas was able to retire 11,000 vehicles last year alone by using this cash-based incentive. California too has begun offering a similar program, and though its $1,500 offer is a bit less generous, that state has no income restrictions.

Even our neighbors up north have plans to reduce their older vehicle fleet by one-percent starting January 1st of next year. Canada’s plan would offer drivers either $300 towards a new vehicle, a discount bicycle or a bus pass, which seems a bit suck-tastic next to the program in Texas.

<img title="used car salesman" height="200" alt="used car salesman, real life horror stories" car salesman" hspace="0" src="http://www.ireporter.tv/Upload/carbuyingtipsblog.com/car%20sales.jpg" width="200" border="0" />

Getting your first car can be a daunting task. That s why you really need to ask around for car buying tips so that you don t get fooled by the used car salesman. For most of us our first car will be a used car and therefore we will have to face off with the local used car salesman. You must go into that car lot with the attitude that you will eat that salesman alive he has nothing on you and you know it. Your local used car salesman can smell a sucker coming from miles away and can feel the fear in you, but these is no way you are going to let him see of feel any fear in you. Make sure that you go into that car lot with all the information you need about the car you want. Go online and check for the car s blue book value depending on mileage and the current quality of the car. Your local used car salesman knows all these numbers and you don t want to give him a leg up on you by not doing this very simple research. In addition, make sure you low ball the used car salesman but not too much where he gets mad at you. Depending on the blue book value, offer the used car salesman $200-$300 less than the price tag and he might agree to half of that going any lower might get you thrown out of the car lot. Before you buy the car, check the oil, I have heard some real life horror stories of people buying a used car and the engine breaking down on them, because the lot never checked the oil on any of the cars in the lot. So there it is. Go get your first car and if you follow these tips your dignity will come home with you too.

OUR TAKE: There’s no denying how stylish the TT is, especially with the S-Line body pieces and wheels that help kick up the sporty looks a notch. To many, the first-generation car was too cutesy, but few can say that of the redesign.

Good car buying advice

Most people are intimidated at the prospect of buying a new or used car at a dealership. And rightly so. We all grew-up hearing about “slick car salesmen” and how they can rip you off. Fret not my friends for help is available. The amount of information available on the Internet to even the negotiating field and actually give you an upper-hand is staggering. So go online for car buying advice and do some research. I’ll get you started with a few car buying advice tips.

Before you even set foot in a dealership, decide how much you can realistically afford to spend and decide how you plan on financing your new or used car. With this step out of the way you can now decide on what make and model, with the options, you want. Again, for car buying advice for this model go online to Edmonds.com and do you research. Step 2 on our car buying advice journey is to call 3 to 5 dealerships and ask for the bottom price for the car you are interested in. I know, you’re thinking —- “right, like they will tell me that!” Here is where your research on the internet gives you the upper-hand. Sites like Edmonds.com, Automotive and CarChex will provide you with best price quotes from your local dealerships and best of all this car buying advice is free. Armed with this information, call the same dealers again and compare what they told you over the phone and what they ACTUALLY will sell the car for. Let them know you are aware they can give you a better deal or you are going elsewhere. Now go get-em!

Pontiac G8 GT: No longer most powerful car under $30K

If you like horsepower, speed and a usable back seat, the Pontiac G8 GT was a great deal with an MSRP of $29,995. In fact, Pontiac advertised the 2008 model as just such a bargain: “Most powerful car starting under $30K,” which is riding the line pretty close.

But the company will have to ditch that ad campaign with the 2009 model as prices for a G8 GT will now begin at $31,360, or some $1,365 more than the previous year. Some of the cost is due to more standard luxuries like XM Radio, but at least part of the increase can be blamed on those familiar culprits of a weak U.S. dollar and rise in material costs. Still, we would’ve thought some of the car’s cost was trimmed by ditching the oversized auxiliary gauges for the car’s battery charge and oil pressure. Guess not.

The goal is to cut out redundant models between the Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep brands, which would also mean consolidating its entire product line into one dealership which offers all three marques. While there are some dealership owners fighting the strategy, The Detroit News reports that Chrysler already has fifty-eight percent of its dealerships offering its three brands, and its been able to cut out some smaller, less profitable sites in the process. While franchise laws prohibit Chrysler from requiring the switch, reducing its model line can have the same effect, forcing its dealers to offer the entire product catalog from the company in order to offer a full line of vehicles.

As a side benefit, the automaker hopes that its dealers can upgrade their franchises, offering a modern look and high-tech features such as Wi-Fi and a cafe on site. Of course, Chrysler needs to do its part by producing some good vehicles for those dealers to offer.

Over the years we have bought more used cars than new. The price of buying a new car wasn’t the only reason for us buying a used car. A used car has already depreciated and so you are getting better value out of your money. If it is a newer used car, then most of the bugs have been worked out and sometimes it will still have a warranty. We found that when we bought a used car, we could get one with all the bells and whistles without having to pay the price for it. Another reason for us to buy a used car was the fact that we had teenagers who would be driving the car and we didn’t want to worry about damage every time they took it. That very thing happened just today. My daughter was rear ended and though there wasn’t much damage, there is a chunk of paint missing from the back of our used Honda Civic. I don’t know if we have been lucky when buying a used car or if we just have a good eye for used cars but every one we’ve ever bought has worked like a charm for a very long time. If you go to roadandtravel.com, you will find many helpful car buying tips.

Buying a Used Car That Has Been Leased
<IMG style="WIDTH: 205px; HEIGHT: 178px" height=305 alt="buying a new car, buying a used car" buying advice" src="http://www.ireporter.tv/Upload/www.carbuyingtipsblog.com/downloadimage.jpg" width=407> Buying a new car is a mixed bag of blessings and hassles. The hassle is almost completely associated with lining up the financing and ultimate price, and the blessings are having a brand new vehicle. My brother in law gave me some good car buying advice. He said that if you shop around online, you will be able to bring quotes to the dealers, so you can negotiate the price with them. Now that virtually all new car dealers are online, buying a new car and getting the right price is so much easier, and can cost you less. If you are budget conscious, consider buying a used car because in the long run, they are the better value. You can buy formerly leased cars for much less than you would think. I have a friend who bought a used car from a fellow who buys nothing but cars whose leases have expired, and he got a very nice car for just a few thousand dollars. People who lease cars have to schedule regular maintenance, so they are almost always in great shape.

Buying a new car is an exciting time for teenagers and young adults. A car represents a certain level of independence, and young people don’t have to rely on their parents or friends for transportation. Unfortunately, mistakes are common among first time car buyers.

If you’re buying a new car for the first time, consider the following tips.

1. Keep it Affordable: Some people make the mistake of buying a new car they can’t afford. Although the dealer or auto lender will review your credit and verify income, they can’t assess your entire financial situation. For example, credit reports don’t reveal monthly premiums for auto or health insurance. Furthermore, reports don’t reveal monthly utility expenses. Thus, it is the responsibility of the car buyer to purchase a car within their budget.

2. Compare Rates: A few auto lenders are famous for charging excessively high interest rates. If buying a new car, getting a low rate is important. To obtain the best rate possible, practice good credit habits and get quotes from multiple lenders. You don’t have to accept dealership financing. Rather, contact a local bank or credit union.

2009 Corvette ZR1 starts at $103,300

Filed under: Car Buying, Coupes, Supercars, Chevrolet, GM

Click above for high-res gallery of the 2009 Corvette ZR1

General Motors and Chevrolet have just released all their official numbers for the 2009 Corvette ZR1 and… hold on to your butts… its base MSRP (including destination charges) will be $103,300. Add to that a $1,700 Gas guzzler tax, $2,000 for chrome wheels and another $10,000 for the only Option package available that adds upgraded seats, side air bags, Bose audio, a nav system, Bluetooth, power tilt/telescoping steering wheel and leather-wrapped interior, and you’re looking at a grand total of $117,000. We believe that may make the Corvette ZR1 the most expensive product ever offered by GM, but consider what you get. The ZR1 is a 638-hp supercar that can reach 60 mph in 3.4 seconds, run the quarter mile in 11.3 seconds at 131 mph (!) and top out at 205 mph, all while returning 14 mpg city and 20 mpg highway. Unfortunately, Chevy didn’t hit its target of having the most fuel-efficient supercar on earth with the ZR1, as they admit that the Dodge Viper (13/22) and Porsche GT3 (15/22) are a bit less thirsty. Of course, they’re neither as powerful nor as fast, and the Porsche is more expensive. The ZR1 will likely be marked up by dealers far above its $117k asking price, but kudos to General Motors anyway for having the balls to build it.

Members of the United States Armed Forces in need of a new vehicle just got bigger lift from General Motors. GM has revised its military discount program, allowing for increased savings over previous program iterations. Detailed information is available online at GMMilitaryDiscount.com for active and reserve members. The price reductions range from $1,500 for a Buick Enclave to $4,200 for a GMC Sierra. On top of that, other GM offered incentives may also be combined with the military program.

In order to promote the updated savings plan, the GM Military Discount Tour will be making stops at several different bases. The traveling show will feature a showroom complete with product specialists and a full lineup of GM’s hottest products, making it even easier for time-constrained military personnel to get a feel for GM’s most dynamic offerings.

There is plenty of car buying advice available in books and on the Internet. However, the bulk of car buying advice is for people with good credit. These persons can walk into a dealership and easily drive away in a brand new car. On the other hand, if you have a low credit score, bankruptcy, or recent foreclosure, it might be harder to get approved for an auto loan.

Here is car buying advice to help people with less-than-perfect credit:

1. Buy a Car to Improve Credit: If you want to quickly re-establish credit, buying a car is a smart move. Yet, you’ll pay a higher loan rate. If you can afford the higher rate and payment, a new or used car loan is one of the easiest ways to boost a low score.

2. Open New Credit Accounts: If you don’t want a high rate on the auto loan, apply for a secured credit card before getting a new car. It’ll take about six months to one year to re-establish credit. Make on-time payments during this time. Afterwards, you should be able to qualify for a reasonable rate on a vehicle loan.

Guess not.

Signs of Bad Customer Service
Whether you’re buying a new car or shopping for clothes, sooner or later you’ll come across a sales representative with horrible customer service. Bad customer service is common. However, rather than get mad and lash out, it’s best to keep your cool.

Here are four signs of bad customer service skills.

1. You Aren’t Acknowledged: Have you ever walked into a retail store and been completely ignored by the salespeople? I understand that it gets hectic at times, and salespeople can’t respond to everyone. On the other hand, if you’re the only person in the store, and you don’t receive a greeting within the first minute, this is bad customer service.

2. Rude Employees: If you ask a question, and the salespeople give an ‘I don’t want to be bothered look,’ this is also bad customer service. True, they might have had a bad day. However, if you choose a career in customer service, you’ve got to learn how to maintain a happy face. This doesn’t have to involve engaging in an extended conversation with customers. It only takes a second to offer a friendly greeting or address a concern.

Volkswagen revealed today that $21,990 will be the base price for its highly anticipated 2009 Jetta TDI, while the Sportwagen model will start at $23,590. This is extremely aggressive pricing on the part of Volkswagen that places the Jetta TDI in direct competition with the Toyota Prius, as eco-minded shoppers will surely cross-shop the two.

The TDI model will be the equivalent of the SE trim level for gas-powered Jettas. A 2009 Jetta SE 2.5L manual sedan starts at $19,990, which tells us that the high-tech, 50-state-compliant clean diesel engine is worth about a $2,000 premium. The Jetta TDI will, however, be available with either a manual or DSG transmission.

The EPA recently rated the 2009 Jetta TDI at 30 mpg city and 41 mpg highway, which were disappointing numbers for Volkswagen. It has since hired an independent, third-party certifier, AMCI, to ascertain what it refers to as the Jetta’s “true fuel economy”. AMCI came back with a better rating (surprise!) of 38 mpg city and 44 mpg highway. Whether or not you think it’s fair for Volkswagen to go around the EPA in search of a higher fuel economy rating, we were just as surprised at how low the EPA numbers were. We’re eager to get one in the Autoblog Garage ASAP for a review so we can test its “true fuel economy” for ourselves.

Back in April we reported a top Chrysler executive had leaked to The Detroit Free Press that the 2009 Dodge Challenger SE would start at $23,995. Apparently this executive is not very much in the loop, as Dodge officially announced today that the base model Challenger SE would start at just $21,995, which includes $675 for destination charges. Just to refresh your noodle, the Challenger SE is the base model and comes with a 3.5L V6 producing 250 horsepower and 250 pound-feet of torque. And for comparison’s sake, a 2008 Ford Mustang V6 starts at $19,650, though that’s excluding destination charges. The next best Challenger is the R/T model, which Dodge says can be had with a 370-hp 5.7L HEMI V8 starting at $29,995. Finally, the 2009 Dodge Challenger SRT8 that’s already been on sale for a year will get a hefty $2,000 bump in its starting price from $37,995 to $39,995. The only new items on the SRT8 for 2009 are a standard limited-slip differential, High Performance Red and B5 Blue paint colors with black hood stripes, and a “pistol-grip” shifter with the Track Pak. Otherwise, the 425-hp muscle car remains largely the same. Does the $2,000 jump in price matter much, though, if you’ll never be able to buy the car without a big dealer markup? Regardless, all three models will be available this fall and dealers are already taking orders.

Hot on the heels of its revisions to the uber-brick known as the G-Class for 2009, Mercedes-Benz has released the first batch of pics showing the hotted-up AMG version, the G 55 AMG. Like its lesser brick siblings, the big box on wheels benefits from the same upgrades in convenience, comfort and safety, but also gets a host of styling tweaks. The lipstick on this particular pig is comprised of a new chromed, three-bar grille, the requisite fender flairs, body-color bumpers, chrome trim, stainless steel tube running boards and 19-inch AMG light-alloy wheels painted grey. The 5.5L V8 engine has received a modest bump from 500 hp to 507, while torque remains put at 516 pound-feet. All this adds up to an incredible 5.5 second run to 62 MPH for what is perhaps the most unaerodynamic vehicle on sale today. The starting price is 121,618 euro. We hear Britney’s already ordered three.
